For those of you wondering what’s been happening with me (Hi all three of you!), here we go.
I’ve been writing about wrestling for nearly a decade. Well, professionally, anyway. I’ve been writing about it just to write about for… crap, I dunno. How old am I now?
In the early days of the public Internet - back when most of us were getting bandwidth from places like AOL and Prodigy as opposed to your local cable company or whatnot. I posted on message boards (if anyone who was on the Prodigy wrestling boards back in the day remembers “Bonoville,” well, I would be extremely surprised) and participated in “eFeds” and even the official WCW IRC channel - which was really a thing.
And then there’s been my over six years with Sportskeeda. I had the opportunity to write about wrestling as part of my regular work at the men’s lifestyle website, TheRugged.com (it’s not there anymore - long story). But it was when I was offered the opportunity to write for Sportskeeda, I jumped on it. The chance to write about one of my absolutely favorite things - pro wrestling - and not only make some money doing it but to reach some real wrestling fans? Sign me the fuck up, sir.
Over the past… six months? Year? It’s been a while. Point being, I haven’t written very much in a long time. That’s due to a number of variables - variables that really don’t matter. The fact is, I haven’t been doing the work.
It’s time to change that.
For the longest time, my drive to write about pro wrestling was for recognition. I’m not ashamed to admit it, by the way. The “professional writers about pro wrestling” community (is there a better name for that, because “The Professional Writers About Pro Wrestling Community” is not only really wordy but, honestly, kind of sucks) is a pretty small niche group (by my calculations, it basically consists of 32 people, and those are just the ones I’ve looked up on Twitter.) But, I’d be happy to be a decent-sized fish in a small pond.
I still want that, don’t get me wrong. It’s just not my guiding star anymore.
I’ll be posting my work here, as well as continuing to submit stuff to Sportskeeda. I’m brainstorming ideas for different kinds of wrestling projects - I’m open to your ideas - and I’ll share them with anyone interested in talking about them.
Let’s get to work.
